SEO: Our 2023 Predictions
Wondering where to focus your SEO efforts this year?
With constant updates from Google and the introduction of tools such as ChatGBT, SEO is constantly evolving and it can be difficult to keep up with the latest trends. If you’re not keeping up to date on the latest strategies, you could be losing out on a considerable number of potential leads.
Our experts have put together their best predictions of what’s going to be happening with all things Google and SEO in 2023!
What happened in 2022?
In order to look ahead at what’s to come, we have to pay attention to what’s already been happening. In 2022, we saw many updates from Google – some good, some not so good.
One of the bigger ones was the Google link spam update which came into full fruition at the start of January this year. The update meant Google now utilises AI technology (SpamBrain) to detect spam automatically as well as using intelligent technology to uncover sites which are exclusively using spam links to link to other sites.
Our SEO Predictions…
Speaking of AI, many SEO pros (including us), believe that AI and Machine Learning will be a huge part of the SEO world this year and for the foreseeable future. In a report done by Search Engine Journal, these features were the top responses when experts were asked to rank what they think will be the most important factors affecting SEO in 2023.
However, it’s no secret that Google doesn’t favour AI-generated content – according to Google Search Essentials, any AI-generated content is actually considered spam. While these clever tools can be used to assist with ideas, they should never be used to generate the final content as Google will penalise you. Human, personable content all the way.
Voice search is also coming to the forefront of the minds of many SEO experts and is only going to grow even more this year. By including long-tail keywords and natural language (goodbye AI tools!), you can optimize your website for voice search by making it easier for your content to be picked up.
It’s not all a fresh year, fresh start though. There are some basics with SEO that remain consistent in order for you to get good results.
Mobile-friendly designs are favoured by Google which is something to keep in mind when designing, but responsive websites are the absolute key. It’s been a necessity for a while now, but many people believe it’s going to be even more crucial in 2023.
Going back to the earlier point of AI and automated content, content still absolutely remains king.
Forgetting all the fancy tools and updates, the key to a successful SEO strategy is high-quality, engaging content that’s original and relevant to your target audience. As well as content, your website links will remain one of the most important aspects of SEO. Ensure that your backlinks are high quality in order to build up Google’s trust and get that ranking sky-high!
